Northmor and Mount Gilead competed in the Marion Invitational last Friday and Saturday.

In the meet, athletes competed in pools on Friday and advanced to an elimination tournament Saturday.

Six Knights wound up earning places on the day, with Conan and Conor Becker pacing the team with third-place finishes, as Northmor took fourth place overall.

On Saturday, Conan Becker won his first three matches at 138 pounds before losing 6-4 to Carson Speelman in a rematch from the J.C. Gorman finals. The junior would rebound in the consolation finals, winning 3-1 over Pleasant’s Preston Smith.

At 145 pounds, Conor Becker won his first three matches on Saturday, but suffered a 3-2 loss in the semifinals. He would finish the day with a win, though, topping Greg Perez of River Valley 14-2 for third place.

Nathan Price went 3-2 on the day at 195 pounds to finish fourth. Jake Neer claimed fifth place, winning four of five Saturday matches at 120 pounds. Matthew Ross went 3-2 at 152 to place fifth, while Aaron Kitts was 3-2 at 132 pounds to earn seventh place.

While no one on Mount Gilead placed, a number of wrestlers had good showings on Friday, with Nate Weaver (126) and Kaleb Fisher (285) winning twice and Brandon Strickland adding a win at 160.
