The Mount Gilead swimmers hosted a Division II public school invitational Saturday at the Marion Y.

The 11-team meet featured all the Marion County schools in additional to MG, Galion, Bexley, Upper Sandusky, Jonathan Alder and Columbus Beechcroft. Upper Sandusky won the girls meet while Galion took top honors for the boys. Both winning schools had more than 30 swimmers. MG’s boys team of seven swimmers tied for fourth with Marion Pleasant, with each scoring 200 points. With only two swimmers, the girls placed ninth out of 11.

Meet highlights: Evan Zmuda was first in the 100 breast and 3rd in the 200 IM; Casey Conrad was 3rd in the 200 free and 100 fly, earning personal bests in both; Erin Zmuda was 3rd in the 100 breast. Evan Zmuda, Logan Conrad, Casey Conrad and Kurtis Brown earned important relay points in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays, while Kurtis was joined by Colton Long, Zack Clark and Gavin Robinson to score points in the 400 free relay.

Personal bests were also earned by Cassandra Snopik in the 100 free, Colton Long in the 200 IM, Gavin Robinson in the 100 breast and Logan Conrad in the 100 back. The team travels to New Albany Saturday for the Northridge Viking Classic Invitational.
