Cardington’s Austin Yake earned a trip to the district golf meet in Division III this year.

The Pirate senior, competing in the sectional tournament at Darby Creek, Marysville, shot 79 to finish third overall and second among qualifying individuals on Tuesday. The top three teams and three individuals not already on a qualifying team advanced to next Wednesday’s district competition at Apple Valley Golf Course, Howard.

Yake was the only local boy to move on to districts. His Cardington team finished sixth overall in the meet with a team total of 405 shots. Logan Doubikin shot 106, Jacob Spires had a round of 107, Mac Warren finished with 113 shots and Cayman Spires scored 123.

Northmor did not compete with a full team. Hayes Bentley shot 92 for the Knights, while Ryan Bentley finished with a round of 112.

Mount Gilead and Highland competed in the Division II sectional meet hosted by Oakhaven Golf Course, Delaware, with the Indians finishing eighth and Scots taking 11th.

Zack Hosack led Mount Gilead with a round of 87. Both Jason Bolha and Mitchell Bell shot 96, while Grant Hack finished with a round of 97 and Zac Trimble scored 114.

Highland was paced by Sam Lopiccolo’s round of 96. Bryan Whited shot 105, while Caleb Dodds scored 108. Also, Jarin Vasquez finished with a round of 111 and Noah Dado shot 123.
