The Northmor Knights are looking for more success this season after finishing last year with records of 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division.

Northmor enters the season once again coached by B.J. Trainer, in his 16th season at Northmor and his seventh as head coach. He has an overall coaching record of 15-45.

The Knights have 17 returning letterwinners, as well as five offensive and three defensive starters. Although the team lost some good players to graduation and is missing some other experienced players who chose not to play this year, Trainer expects his squad to be competitive, despite not having much on-field experience on their side.

“We have several young men that decided not to play for one reason or another. However, we coach the athletes we do have to help them reach their full athletic potential,” he said.

On offense, several changes have been introduced by Trainer, and he said the Knights have decent speed and “a good understanding of what they are being asked to do.”

Senior Jordan Wiseman is expected to be under center as the season kicks off. The offensive line has some size and experience. Multi-purpose player and returning letterwinner Demetrius Johnson could have a big impact on the offensive side of things.

Defensively, Northmor lacks size and game experience, but is very quick.

“We will be able to run to the ball well and have good aggression,” Trainer said.

Many players will see time on both sides of the ball.

“We would like to be one of the better teams in the Blue Division and be in the top three major statistical categories. But wins are paramount,” Trainer said. “We’ll show up every Friday night and play with great intensity and passion. We will be physical and give ourselves the best chance to be successful.”
