Sports reporting procedure

Coaches of local sports teams in Morrow County are asked to submit results of contests (including statistics) their teams compete in to the Morrow County Sentinel. Results may be submitted in several fashions.

Coaches may call the Sentinel at 419-946-3010, extension #1807 or fax them to 419-932-6782. Results also may be emailed to either [email protected] or [email protected] .

Cardington holding Mattress Fundraiser

The Cardington High School football team is hosting its first Mattress Fundraiser on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Name brands Simmons and Restonic mattresses will be sold 30-60 percent off retail price and the event is raising money for the football team’s senior trip, as far as other equipment for the team.

Also, a flyer can be obtained (found at http://bit.ly/Beds4Cardington) to save $50 on any mattress set.

Lee Rizor Golf Benefit on July 25

The third annual Lee Rizor Golf Benefit will be held at Pine Lakes Golf Club, Mount Gilead, on July 25 at 8 a.m.

There will be 32 teams of four available. Entries will include 18 holes of golf, a cart and lunch. Beverages are sold separately. The cost is $240 per team of four. If a team does not have four players, the cost is still $240. Efforts will be made to group single players into teams. Lunch for non-golfers is $10.

The deadline for registration is July 15. All proceeds will go to Rizor’s children, Lane and Layla. To register or send a donation, call Beth Rizor at 419-989-5509.

OHSAA football officiating class at Tri-Rivers

There will be an Ohio High School Athletic Association football officiating class held at Tri-Rivers JVS, Marion. The dates for the class are July 27 and Aug. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19 and 24. It will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

HOJGA holds golf fundraiser

Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association held its golf scramble fundraiser at Kings Mill to benefit its scholarship program for youth on Sunday, June 28.

Danielle Emans, Russell Emans, Andrew Kennedy and Jarred Walker posted a 58 on the par 70 course to win first place. Mike Haycook, Tyler Majors, Bob Douds and Mike Neeper placed second at 59, while Keith and April Hamilton and Joe and Edie Rosinski posted 61 for third.

Adam Brinkman, Linda and Mike Mills and Sam McPherson followed at 62, with the team of Donnie Parrott, Ron Ratliff, Charlie Jordan and Rick Cunningham at 65. Johnnie and Justin Regula and Wes Cole finished the round at 70.
