Former State Representative and current Crawford County Commissioner, Steve Reinhard has filed nominating petitions seeking election to the 87th Ohio House of Representative’s seat in the Ohio Legislature.

The seat is currently held by Jeff McClain of Upper Sandusky who is not seeking re-election due to term limits imposed by the Ohio Constitution. The 87th House District is comprised of Crawford, Morrow, Wyandot, and portions of Marion and Seneca counties. Reinhard says, “I can think of no greater honor than being elected again by voters to the 87th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. I believe that voters have come to expect professionalism and experience from their government officials and I hope they recognize that I have dedicated my governmental career to being a fiscal conservative who works hard to insure that their tax dollars are spent wisely.”

Prior to being elected County Commissioner in 2012, Reinhard served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2001-2008.

As Crawford County Commissioner, Reinhard has been active with the Crawford County Education and Economic Development Partnership, where he serves on the Board and on the Executive Committee of that organization that coordinates business and government partners and efforts to improve the economic vitality of the county and region.

Reinhard has spent a lifetime advocating on the importance of strengthening and preserving local agriculture. In fact, Reinhard was appointed by Governor Kasich in 2012 to the Ohio Exposition Commission, where he currently serves as Chairman.

Reinhard is a volunteer board member and Vice Chairman of the Ohio Soybean Council and has visited with other counties such as China and Japan on behalf of Ohio’s soybean farmers. Reinhard is also active in many agricultural groups including; The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers, the Crawford County Soil and Water District and the Crawford County Cattleman’s Association.

Prior to serving in the Ohio House of Representatives, Reinhard taught Agriculture and coached basketball at Crestview High School. Reinhard holds two B.S. degrees from The Ohio State University in Agricultural Economics and Agriculture Education. Steve is married to Kerrie and attends the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Bucyrus.

“My goal is to continue serving the taxpayers of the 87th House District by using my prior experience as a legislator and County Commissioner, along with my strong agricultural background and knowledge, to navigate a legislative process that has become complicated and difficult to navigate with impact and effectiveness,” says Reinhard.
