On Wednesday, June 24th Perry Cook Memorial Library welcomed SGT. Brian Newsome and the K-9 unit from the Morrow County Sheriff Department to the third week of the Summer Reading program “Every Hero Has a Story”.

Sgt. Newsome has worked for the department since 2004, starting with the K-9 unit in 2010. Accompanying him was his dog Dixie, who came from Azzi International. She began training as a puppy and is now 7 years old. Dixie can locate narcotics, help find missing people and search for drugs in the schools.

The K-9 unit is a wonderful asset to the Sheriff Department. The library is located at 7406 County Road 242 in Johnsville. The library’s phone number is 419-362-7181.
