Children at the Mount Gilead Public Library Tiny Tot Story Time enjoyed their usual playtime with toys and puzzles on Tuesday, following they heard the story of Arbor Day from Mount Gilead Mayor, Mike Porter.

Porter told the children and their moms and grandmothers that he remembered bringing his children to story hour. Their story hour teacher, Lori White, best known as “Miss Lori” was also his children’s story hour teacher.

“Miss Lori” said this is her 19th year with story hour at the Mount Gilead Public Library. Since it was her birthday, she passed out a treat for each child while the children and their moms sang a chorus of Happy Birthday.

Children then enjoyed coloring a carrier for a plant and each child received a potted plant to take home in honor of Arbor Day.

Timberlee Madeker said her two and three year old sons look forward to attending story hour each week with “Miss Lori.”

The Spring Story Hour Session will go through May 17. There will be a break before the Summer Tiny Tot Story Hour starts on Tuesday, June 7 at 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. for children ages infant – 4-years-old.
