“Creating Lasting Family Connections” was the topic offered when five weekly sessions were presented by the Cardington Counseling Team for parents and students at the Cardington-Lincoln School.

The sessions focused on students in grades K-6. Students and parents were divided into two separate groups. Some of the topics addressed were “Reflections on Parenting,” “Communicating Feelings,” “The Use of Feedback,” “Family Feelings” and “Developing and Implementing Effective Consequences”.

The classes were taught by the counseling staff and funding was made through a Federal Guidance Grant. Carolyn Beal, Federal Guidance Grant Coordinator, led the program.

Participants received a certificate of completion and a t-shirt that bore the Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies message for Cardington – “WE are Responsible, Respectful, and Ready.”

Future classes will be scheduled for the 2016-2017 school year.
