Shoppers anxiously awaited the “official” grand opening of the Dollar Tree store in Mt. Gilead on April 2.

Located beside Discount Drug Mart on W. Marion Road, the store has been open since March 24, but it was not until today the store held its grand opening celebration.

Dollar Tree occupies a portion of the former Pamida Store.

On hand to welcome the new business to the village was Mt. Gilead Village Administrator Dan Rogers, as well as village council members Kay Hines and Donna Carver.

Morrow County Sheriff Deputies Steve and Penny Fox distributed key chains and coloring books during the event.

“Iron Man” was also on hand to greet shoppers.

Dollar Tree is open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Sunday.
