Chris Goodwin, president of the Morrow County Farm Bureau, expressed appreciation to the more than 500 diners who were served the Farmers Share Breakfast on March 19, at the Cardington-Lincoln High School cafeteria.
“There were between 500 and 600 who attended,” said Goodwin, who helped make the pancakes during the three and one half hours the breakfast was served. The menu also included sausage, eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee.
“By inviting consumers to our Farmers Share Breakfast, we hope to connect with them and provide a better understanding of the origins of the food on their plates and how every person is affected by agriculture every day,” said Andrea Bayles, the co-leader of the Morrow County Farm Bureau Communications Team.
Contributing to the breakfast were the Hord Family who donated the sausage, Pleiades Maple Products, maple syrup; Pillsbury, flour for the pancakes; Shaw Creek, the propane to cook the sausage; and Matt Carwell and Scott Gompf who cooked the sausage. Helping to serve and clean up tables were members of the Morrow County Farm Bureau and the Happy Hemstitchers and Haymakers 4-H Club.
Demonstrations were made by the Marion County Antique Tractor Club; Snuggle in Hope Quilts, Morrow County Bee Keepers, the Morrow County Soil and Water Conservation District, the OSU Extension Office; Pleiades Maple Products and Headwaters.
In addition to Goodwin, Morrow County Farm Bureau officers are Heather Goodman, vice president; Andrea Bayles, secretary and Don Bloom, treasurer. The Farm Bureau expressed appreciation to the Cardington-Lincoln School administration and board of education for use of the school.
