Candace Schlingman, the Art teacher at Highland Middle School and her students are teaming up to do a community service project for the Karen’s Kids Campus child care facility in Marengo.

Holly Schade, the Director of the day care, asked students to help with decorating the new facility. The students, with the helpful guidance of Schlingman, are eagerly designing ceiling tiles for the many classrooms at the daycare.

Schade has chosen many themes for the rooms, such as barnyard, pond and zoo animals, as well as numbers and alphabet. Each art class will be given a design theme to work with. The colorful, painted tiles will be placed in the ceiling of each class room to create a wonderful visual for all the young children.

The daycare (initially opened in the spring of 2015) will be moving from its current location at 691 State Route 61 across the street into the new, expansive 8,000 square foot building, next to the Morrow County Hospital Primary Medical Center. The move should take place about May 2.
