The Village of Mount Gilead wills soon join other modern merchants by making use of a credit/debit card payment option for residents.

The initiative is set to help ease the payment process for villagers looking to pay local income tax, mayor’s court fees and utility bills.

“It will really help on the shutoff notices and traffic payments,” Mount Gilead Village Adminstrator Dan Rogers said at the Feb. 15 council meeting.

Mount Gilead Fiscal Officer Cathy Davis expects the system to be up and running by early April.

Residents who want to pay with card can do so at the Clerk’s Office.
