Shane Farnsworth will serve Morrow County as the new Morrow County Ecomomic Development Director following his appointment to the position at the Jan. 11 Commissioners meeting.

Farnsworth is set to begin work with the county Jan. 25, and will replace Brandon Miller, who currently holds director position. Miller replaced Pat Davies in March of 2015, after Davies was elected to serve as the Morrow County Auditor .

“I look forward to working with The County Commissioners, elected officials, and the business leaders and growing Morrow County’s economy,” said Farnsworth. “Morrow County is headed in the right direction and poised to be a leader in central Ohio and position itself for business recruitment.”

Farnsworth served as the business development manager for Lee County, Florida. He previously worked as Columbus’ economic development administrator, and as Fairfield County’s economic development director, as well as the administrator of the nonprofit Fairfield 33 Development Alliance.

The new director holds a bachelor’s degree in planning from Wright State University and two associate degrees from Hocking College.

Farnsworth earned an Economic Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council in 2012.

Additionally, he served two terms as board member to the State of Ohio Parks Commission until taking the business development position in Lee County.
