YOUTH OPERA ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE SECRET GARDEN AND ALICE IN WONDERLAND – The Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre announces auditions for The Secret Garden and its companion piece Alice in Wonderland, Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 11am-3pm and Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1-4pm, at the Renaissance Theatre, 138 Park Avenue West in Mansfield.
Auditions are open to students in grades 2 through 12 and will be held in the ballroom at the Renaissance Theatre. Audition appointments are required.
Auditionees are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song and bring sheet music in their key. An accompanist will be provided.
UF TO HOST ETHICS BOWL – Should money be given to panhandlers? Should universities receive funding from donors with questionable earning practices?
Conundrums such as these commonly require judgment and decisiveness from all of us at different points in our lives, but for competing high school teams at The University of Findlay in February, their responses to similar ethical questions will be stringently judged at UF’s first annual Ethics Bowl, which is being organized by Matthew Stolick, professor of philosophy and chair of the Religious Studies and Philosophy Department.
The Feb. 6 regional event at Winebrenner Theological Seminary will be free and open to the public. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. with introductions, and then move into 45-minute competitions in classrooms. There will be a break for participants to have lunch, followed by the championship match from 1:30-2:15 p.m. Awards will be handed out after the final match.
WORKPLACE SAFETY EVENT SET – Registration is now open for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) 2016 Safety Congress and Expo (OSC16), which will take place March 9-11 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. BWC annually hosts the largest regional safety and health conference in the U.S. to help Ohio employers prevent workplace injuries and achieve better outcomes for injured workers. There is no cost for Ohio employers and their employees to attend the event.
OSC16 offers more than 200 educational sessions, 225 exhibitors and free continuing education credits. Those attending Safety Congress can learn to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, achieve better outcomes for injured workers, reduce workers’ compensation claims costs and keep Ohio’s work force healthy and productive.
