Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) released the following statement on The Restoring American’s Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which repeals Obamacare and redirects Planned Parenthood funding to community health centers:

“‘A tough pill to swallow.’ ‘A nightmare.’ ‘Very taxing.’ ‘Just more red tape.’

That is what families and businesses in Ohio are saying about the onerous mandates and requirements of the president’s failed healthcare law. Today, we are fulfilling our promise by sending an Obamacare repeal to the president’s desk for the first time. With this vote, we are paving the way for better, more affordable, and patient-centered care to give families and job creators the certainty they need and deserve. As the chair of the Health Subcommittee on Ways and Means, that is my top priority.

“We are also advancing key pro-life provisions that redirect Planned Parenthood funding to community health centers, keeping tax dollars from funding abortions. With his expected veto, President Obama will violate the values that so many Americans hold dear by prioritizing the abortion industry before protecting the lives of the unborn. It is unacceptable. Rest assured, I remain committed to defending the sanctity of all life.

“Today, we are sending a clear message to President Obama. We have plenty of more work to do in the year ahead, and I look forward to continuing the fight to advance common sense, free market solutions to protect Ohioans from the empty promises of misguided Washington policies.”
