Mt. Gilead’s first annual Christmas on the Square will be held Wednesday, December 9 from 6 – 8 pm in downtown Mt. Gilead.
A well-attended parade, held Friday evening, kicked off the holiday season and this Wednesday’s festival has a full schedule of events for those in the holiday spirit. The merchants in town will be participating in a window decorating contest and sponsoring activities and contests for the whole family. Featured will be:
Graham Insurance — Live reindeer, horse and sleigh rides (bring a can of food), pictures with Santa, pictures with Elsa and Olaf From “Frozen,” free popcorn, hot dogs, chips, and cookies
Cornerstone Café Grill — Free hot drinks
Mary K’s Flowers — Write letters to Santa and mail them in an official Santa mailbox, plus a magician will be performing!
Sames & Cook — String jingle bells to take with you
Shinaberry Insurance — Can you spot us passing out candy canes?
Domino’s — Drop off coats for school-aged kids for the Clothes Closet
Alluring Coiffures (Rose Arnold) — Sign Christmas cards for the troops
Gardens & Gifts — Drop off items to send to the troops
Mt. Gilead Trading Post — Stop in for a map for the treasure hunt
Morrow County Historical Society — Open for tours
H & R Block — Christmas poems for kids
Mt. Gilead Fire Department — They’re bringing Santa to town!
Edward Jones — Make a Christmas card for family or a friend
Howard Hanna — Bring your nativity to display for the evening
James Madison — Make an art project
Kilgour’s Insurance Store — Build a Christmas chain together — Reward is carrots to feed the live reindeer
Capitol Theater – showing the movie “Frozen” – free to all
Mind, Body and Spirit – free face painting
On the Square – Mt. Gilead High School students will be caroling from 6 – 7 p.m.
