MT. GILEAD, Ohio – Phil Caskey has been named president and CEO of Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Caskey, a 22-year employee of Consolidated, currently serves as the cooperative’s vice president of engineering and operations. He will succeed Jerry Lauer, who has served as president and CEO since 2008.

“Phil is the best choice to lead Consolidated,” said Larry Roof, chairman of the Consolidated Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees. “Having played an important role in the current success of our cooperative, he has the strong skill set needed to address our future opportunities and challenges.”

Caskey began his career as a distribution engineer and key accounts representative with Columbus Southern Power before joining Buckeye Power, Inc. in 1992. After two years of providing engineering and financial consulting to electric cooperatives across the state of Ohio, he joined Consolidated as the system engineer, eventually progressing to his current leadership position.

“I am fortunate to have served our members and communities alongside a group of highly-skilled professionals over the last 22 years,” said Caskey. “And I am truly excited to continue serving in my new capacity as we remain committed to providing the quality services and the low rates our members and customers deserve.”

Caskey will assume his official duties on Jan. 1, 2016, with Lauer serving in an advisory capacity until his retirement on March 31.

“I appreciate the tremendous effort and commitment demonstrated by Consolidated employees during my eight years as CEO,” said Lauer. “I am committed to working with Phil and the board of trustees to ensure a smooth and effective transition in the coming months.”

Upon retirement, Lauer plans to join his family and grandchild in Minnesota.
