Mount Gilead Park Ave. students, parents and teachers filled Mount Gilead McDonalds to overflowing in late October for McTeacher’s Night. They enjoyed supper and sampling pumpkin dessert, pumpkin-spice latte and mango papaya smoothies. Breakfast for supper with pancakes was a popular new choice for McTeacher’s night this year.
The event was all to raise some funds for projects. 15 percent of McDonald’s profits for the two hours from 5:30 to 7:30 went to the school for their chosen project.
By the end of the two hour McTeacher’s Night, Principal Jim Swain said they raised over $200. Mt. Gilead McDonalds General Manager, Deidre McCotter said that schools can have this fundraiser twice a year. The amount they raise can be used for a school or a community project. 15 percent of all sales, except Arch gift cards, is donated by McDonalds.
McDonald’s Assistant Manager, Jessica Shelby said Park Ave. Principal Swain did a great job in promoting the event and even sent parents a reminder of McTeacher’s Night on their alert system that morning.
The McTeacher’s Night fundraiser is open to all the Morrow County schools. So far Mount Gilead and Cardington schools are the two districts that have taken advantage of the event.
The entire McDonald’s crew showed a lot of enthusiasm. McCotter said they have been enthusiastic the entire month of October with sales up and the new policy of all-day breakfast. Since they launched the breakfast all-day special their counts of sales and guests have been up. Numbers show that it’s the all-day sales of breakfast sandwiches that are putting up the sales.
