Beginning on September 15 the Chess Club began its second season at the Mount Gilead Public Library. The club is open to all ages and skill levels and all who wish to learn chess or play chess. They meet on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. on the third floor of the library.

Teachers Pete and Rhonda Dettra lead the club with assistance from Lynn Conner. They have as many as twenty on some days and usually have 10 to 12 playing.

Library Director Mike Kirk is pleased to have the club in the library and noted that many of the youth stay to work on homework or read after they’ve finished a game of chess.
