Make A Difference Day Ohio is October 24

DELAWARE, OH – Delaware County residents are taking part in Make a Difference Day (MDD), the largest single-day of volunteering in the country. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we all have the power to do something that improves the life of another.

Everyone is invited to join Connections Volunteers Center in our celebration of Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 24. Last year’s event won the USA Today National Make a Difference Day Award with over 700 volunteers serving Delaware County. Help increase our impact this year as one of 1,000 volunteers improving our communities. We need the power of you!

HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides a 24-hour, crisis, support hotline; information/referral for sexual assault advocacy; suicide and violence prevention education; and serves as the area’s only volunteer center.

Registration is available online at, for volunteers of all ages, and project ideas in association with MDD. Hundreds of volunteers will gather, beginning at 8:00 am at Camp Lazarus with a light breakfast and job assignments for the volunteers. Volunteers then go to senior citizen’s homes and area non-profits to complete assigned projects. Volunteers then return to Camp Lazarus around noon to wrap-up the day and enjoy a free hot dog lunch.

“Make a Difference Day is really the heart of what Connections does within our community – connecting volunteers to needs. In just three hours, multiplied by hundreds of volunteers the results and amount of work completed is astounding. We hope you will consider joining us to reach our goal of 1000 volunteers this year – we cannot do it without you!” says Suzanne Pingry, Connections Volunteer Program Director.

This intergenerational event is open to volunteers of all ages – individuals, families and groups are welcome. Last year more than 40 Senior Citizens and 20+ Delaware area non-profits received volunteer services.
