10/15/2015 5:30 pm – Preliminary report – A two vehicle crash on State Route 61 injured a local man shortly before 5 pm today.

Witnesses at the scene report the driver of a southbound SUV allegedly traveled left of center into the path of a northbound semi tractor trailer belonging to Huntsman Trucking. The truck driver, from Lancaster, did not appear to be injured but the driver of the SUV was pinned in his vehicle.

MedFlight arrived and the Cardington and Mt. Gilead Fire Departments used the Jaws of Life to free the SUV driver, who is reported to be from the Cardington area.

The accident, which occurred north of State Route 529, blocked State Route 61 for well over an hour.

Also responding to the scene was Post 59 of the Highway Patrol, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County EMS and LifeLine ambulance.

This information will be updated when a report from the highway patrol becomes available.
