The drizzle and 45 degree temperature didn’t dampen the spirits of runners and walkers at Saturday’s Community Center 5K.

The morning began with a cold wind and light rain. But Community Center Director, Sara Baldwin said she didn’t hear any complaints. Participants said the weather just kept them moving faster.

Overall Men’s Winner was Mike Farris with 25 minutes and Women’s overall was Barb Weaver with 34.21. 13 runners and 5 walkers completed the course. Rain was coming down steadily by the time the last runner came in with the temperature lingering in the 40’s all day.

Baldwin said that 22 sponsors helped make the race a very successful fundraiser. Gold sponsors included: Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Lubrication Specialties, Inc., Morrow County Hospital, and Dr. Allen Stojkovic, DDS.

Silver sponsors were: Jim Brucker and Associates, Gompf Funeral Services, Griffith & Brininger Attorneys at Law, HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc., Marion Technical College. Bronze sponsors included: Community Bookkeeping, LLC, Kilgour’s Insurance Store, Knights of Columbus, McCreary’s Body Shop, and Morrow County Dental.

Goody Bags were provided by Drug Mart and seven sponsors contributed items for the runners and walkers. Contributors were: Cardington Public Library, Hoffman Office Center, Marion Technical College, McClelland Chiropractic LLC, McCreary’s Body Shop, Morrow County Hospital, Re/Max Genesis Realtors, Dr. Allen Stojkovic, D.D.S.
