MOUNT GILEAD – In an article in the April 27 Sentinel, it was reported the Morrow County Commissioners heard from Donna Carver at their regular meeting April 25. The report stated Carver represented the Morrow County Health Initiative Citizens’ Advisory Group when she encouraged the board of commissioners to explore the 501(c)3 option for the hospital. That attribution was the newspaper’s error.

The Morrow County Health Initiative Citizens Advisory Group disbanded Nov. 8, 2021, according to Jennifer Williams, former chair.

Williams explained: The advisory group was formed as one condition of the Dec. 30, 2020 settlement agreement and mutual release between the county commissioners and the hospital board. The hospital board appointed three members and the commissioners appointed three members to the advisory group; the group chose a chair themselves. The settlement agreement specified the group had until July 1, 2021, to publish a “five-year plan for the provision of healthcare in Morrow County.” After the group completed its recommendation June 24, 2021, it was presented to the hospital board and commissioners, and the advisory group stopped meeting. The settlement agreement said the group “shall no longer be in existence as of December 31, 2021, unless jointly extended” by the commissioners and hospital board; neither requested the extension.
