MORROW COUNTY — Every year Morrow County Women award scholarships to area high school senior girls. All proceeds from the upcoming April 7 annual Scholarship Auction and Dinner will be distributed this spring. Last year $3,250 was awarded to three scholarship recipients.
The auction is fun and the community is encouraged to “step up to the plate and take a swing for scholarships.” Stepping up to the plate includes an invitation to wear your favorite baseball team attire.
Marion Salem United Methodist Church is hosting the event and the menu includes pork loin, cheesy potatoes, salad, pie and beverages. The evening begins at 6 p.m. The cost of the meal is $15 per person and solely covers the cost of the event. The church is located at 1640 Salem Road, Caledonia. Scholarship funding is derived from the auction so guests are encouraged to bid on the large selection of auction items.
The Morrow County Women awards scholarships with a minimum of $500 per award for the upcoming 2022 graduation year. The criteria for the scholarship is detailed below:
• Applicant must be a female, high school senior attending a Morrow County school or residing in Morrow County with plans to pursue further education or vocational training after high school graduation.
• Must have a college acceptance letter at the time of application to a school of the applicant’s choice.
• Must have a current high school transcript and the attached application and essay emailed to [email protected] or postmarked no later than April 15, 2022 to Robin Jordan, 4009 County Road 98, Mt Gilead, Ohio 43338, Attention:MCW
• If a scholarship is awarded, the applicant is required to provide a transcript demonstrating the completion of the first grading period. Documentation must be provided to the Morrow County Women not later than February 15, 2023 in order to receive payment of the scholarship award.
