MOUNT GILEAD — Morrow County Hospital, several businesses and many residents with Century Link landlines have had to resort to alternative phone service since March 7 due to an area outage.

Morrow County Commissioner Tom Whiston said he has received information from Century Link that the outage in parts of the county is due to water damage that is possibly caused by storms a couple weeks ago.

Crews contracted by Century Link are working at manholes in the street at the corner of Marion Street and Main Street. A crew is also working at the alley by NAPA on Marion Street.

Crew members said that they are waiting on a part or parts that have been special ordered for the repair.

Whiston said he received assurances from Century Link that the outage could be fixed on March 23. However, he said several people have heard from the company that the problem would be fixed several days ago; and as of Monday afternoon, the service was still out.
