Since its inception in 1995, Ohio State Marion’s Five Nights on Campus performing arts and entertainment series has hosted over 100 performances ranging from theatrical portrayals of historic American icons to Broadway musicals. The musical diversity of the series has included genres from folk, blues, jazz, and sacred music, to rock, country, swing, big band, and a cappella.

The Palace Theatre Big Band

Originally known as The All Americans, the Palace Theatre Big Band has been delighting audiences for more than fifty years. Along with performing for dances, parties, and a wide variety of other functions, the band has taken the stage with many singers and dancers for variety shows at Marion’s historic Palace Theatre. Renowned vocalists, Johnny Steiner and Ann Schertzer, join leader George Schram and the band in a program that will have you dancing in the aisles.

A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine – A student based musical

Thursday, November 5 & Friday, November 6, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

Winner of two Tony Awards, this hit Broadway production was directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune. Presented in two parts, this campy, live, double feature provides more hilarity than any presented in Hollywood’s heyday. A Day in Hollywood is a salute to the Golden Age of film musicals. A Night in the Ukraine is based on Chekov’s one-act play, The Bear, and introduces the audience to a hilarious array of characters as featured in the wildly entertaining Marx Brothers’ films. This student-based musical production promises a tuneful evening and lots of laughs!

OSU Men’s Glee Club

Back by popular demand! The Ohio State University Men’s Glee Club is a brotherhood that commits itself to excellence through artistry, achievement in academics, and outreach to the community. The Men’s Glee Club has been sharing music with the OSU campus, community, and around the world since 1875. They are active throughout the year with fall tailgating before football games, multiple concerts on and off campus, and frequent trips both within the US and abroad. Dr. Robert J. Ward is conductor of the Men’s Glee Club and Chorale.

This first-person narrative is presented with amazing clarity and surprising present-day similarities. The performance strongly highlights this man’s inner commitment to family values and protection of the environment.

The General Guinness Band

The General Guinness Band has performed the songs and music of Ireland for over 28 years. The band weaves lively ballads with fiddle tunes and step dancing to provide a quick-paced program with visual as well as aural interest. Solid vocals, intricate step dancing, and riveting instrumentals provide dynamic programing for today’s discerning audiences. The Irish have a colorful oral history of stories handed down from generation to generation, and The General Guinness Band takes great pride and pleasure in the retelling and embellishing of these stories of old!
