COLUMBUS — The Morrow County Sentinel took home two awards in the 2021 Ohio News Media Association Osman C. Hooper Non-Daily Newspaper Competition.

The paper received a second place for the “Special Graduation Scrapbook Edition: Class of 2020.”

Judge’s comments:

”I love the scrapbook design that begins on the cover. The editor’s story served as a good introduction to the issue and offered some storytelling and news judgment. Good job adding design elements so that not every photo is the same size and not every high school’s section looks the same. It’s good that the photos are large enough that you can tell what’s going on in them. There were even some action shots.”

The Sentinel’s web site also was awarded a second place.

Judge’s comments:

“Another mobile-friendly page with big tiles. There’s a lot to look at. A poll is always helpful to increase engagement.”

The newspaper competes in Division C, those with circulation of 2,500 and below.
