CARDINGTON — Christmas in Cardington, a popular event in the village for several years, took on a different look this holiday season.

Instead of a one-night event, 12 Days of Cardington featured holiday related music, lights and prizes over the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Christmas in Cardington is sponsored by Friends of Cardington. Social distancing was encouraged and virtual events held due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Christmas characters were on the square and near the park for a mini drive-by Christmas. Other events were a virtual trivia contest and residents were asked to make a donation to the food pantry or blessing box or make a monetary donation to the Friends of Cardington to help continue its programs and events.

Winners of the Lights and Decorating Contest were revealed, with Aric Pine’s home chosen best.

A local teacher read a Christmas story via Facebook. Finally, Santa Claus visited on Dec. 22 and a live Nativity scene was set up at the Community Park prior to the holiday.
