MOUNT GILEAD — It’s Girl Scout cookie season and you’ll find Girl Scouts with their leaders at several places around the village and the county.

Girl Scout Troop 1517 set up a table Saturday morning at Chase Bank in Mount Gilead with the full selection of cookies from the tried and true varieties of ‘Thin Mints’ and ‘Trefoils’ to ever popular “Samoas,” Tag-a-longs and ‘Do-Si-Dos.’

Assistant leader Lindsay Lester said the new kind this year is ‘Lemon up’ and they also have ‘Smores’ and other favorites.

Sherrie Them stopped in from H&R Block downtown. She said they really enjoy the Girl Scout cookies and everyone has their favorites. She got two certificates for getting five boxes or more.

That allows her to go online and enter a raffle to win five cases of cookies. It’s called the 5 for Five Customer Cookie Contest.

Chase Bank Branch Manager, April Wrobel looks forward to having the scouts in the bank again before the season is over.

“We like to be a part of the community and having the Scouts here with their cookies,” Wrobel said.

The Girl Scouts will be selling cookies through March 22. Lindsay said they will be at Kroger on March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at Keith’s Florist from noon to 4 p.m.
