CHESTERVILLE — The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal traffic crash that claimed two lives.

The crash occurred on Sunday, Jan. 19 at approximately 6:32 a.m. on County Road 25 at State Route 314.

The driver was identified as Edward Virgin, 48, of Marengo, Ohio. Virgin was driving a silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and failed to stop at the stop sign on County Road 25 at State Route 314. The vehicle traveled across State Route 314 and struck an embankment.

Virgin was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Charity Virgin 40, of Marengo, was a passenger in the vehicle and was wearing her seatbelt. Mrs. Virgin was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield where she died.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Big Walnut Fire Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County EMS, and the Morrow County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
