Presenting the program when the Cardington Seniors met on May 22 were Audia Fraley and Emma Manier from Helpline of Delaware-Morrow County. They said that in the past, there was a volunteer “Hopeline.” That program is now part of Helpline activities. Helpline has programs for all ages but presenters focused on older adult programs.
They gave information included in detail about stress factors for older adults, finances, physical and feelings of isolation.
They reviewed the symptoms of depression and developing of suicidal thinking. Helpline has a 24 hour crisis line at 419-947-2520 or 1-400-684-2324.
Things to help depression from occurring include exercise, healthy diet and sleep, spirituality and remaining connected with others.
