“Peddlers” come from Morrow County, all around Ohio and the nation for the Peddlers in the Park weekend at Mount Gilead State Park.

Bill and Marcia Cadle, who RV around the state and come back to Mount Gilead about every year, said the event gets bigger every year.

The Cadles lived in Mount Gilead for 30 years before retiring. They travel to Texas in the winter with their RV and camp in Ohio in the summer where they have family and friends.

There was a line for breakfast this Saturday as campers and local visitors came in to enjoy the country breakfast and browse the peddler booths.

Parking was at a premium by 8:30 a.m., but everyone was in good spirits with the sunny weather that seemed to be holding up for outdoor activities.

Cindy and Jerry Gackenheimer of Warsaw, Indiana were camping at the Park for the weekend and gave the Mount Gilead State Park two thumbs up for the services and cleanliness of the park. They also remarked that it was very special for such a small town and park to have such great services.

“You can tell that people here really care about their park,” Jerry commented, “and it is really great to be able to get such a good breakfast here too.”

The next country breakfast will be held at the park on Labor Day Weekend Sept. 5, 6 and 7.
