MOUNT GILEAD — Morrow County Commissioners appointed village resident Andy Ware as the county’s economic development director. The appointment was made Oct. 29.

A former resident of Peru Township, Ware has lived in Mount Gilead since 2000. He previously was deputy director for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources where he oversaw both land management and regulatory divisions, grant and real estate programs.

Ware also represented ODNR on the Ohio Water Development Authority, the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Ohio Public Works Commission.

As part of his duties Ware worked regularly with JobsOhio and Columbus 2020 to support economic development projects, including handling permit requirements for the proposed 5,000-job Belmont County ethane cracker plant.

Ware will work to secure new business development, job creation and shopping opportunities for Morrow County residents. He will also oversee community development grants, zoning and planning activities in the county.

He is a graduate of The Ohio State University with degrees in agriculture and communication.
