MOUNT GILEAD — Jeff Slider, the chaplain for Hospice of Morrow County, had an up-close look at the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001.

Slider will speak at a program on Thursday, Nov. 15 about his experiences as a first responder at the World Trade Center immediately following the attack.

He spent more than a week as a commissioned grief counselor for the Port Authority Police Department, having already had 20 years as a pastor and counselor by that time. He received the 2003 Red Cross Work Place Hero Award for his service at Ground Zero.

The free program, sponsored by the Morrow County Historical Society, begins at 7 p.m. at Seniors on Center, 41 W. Center St., Mount Gilead.
