A trial date has been set in the matter of Corby Blanton of Caledonia.

Blanton appeared with his attorney James Mayer in the Morrow County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge Robert Hickson, Jr. on Tuesday afternoon. The pastor and former substitute teacher faces five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor that allegedly occurred over the course of four years.

The defense waived their right to a speedy trial. Judge Hickson stated discovery shall be done and all pre-trial motions filed by Nov. 2, 2015. Pretrial and supplemental arraignment is set for Oct.13 at 2:30 pm. A trial date of Jan. 25, 26, 27,and 28, 2016 has been set.

Hickson also told Asst. Prosecutor Dave Homer to advise the alleged victim in this case and their family to seek counseling soon so ‘they can find some resolution in their lives.’

Blanton has regularly reported to pre-trial services and complied with all bond requirements and remains free on bond.
