Shirley Robinson, a long time member of Jenkins-Vaughan Auxiliary Unit 97 and chairman of the flag committee, was honored by the unit with a farewell luncheon during the unit’s regular meeting Oct. 16. Robinson is moving to Nebraska soon.

In other matters during the unit’s regular meeting, those present heard a report by Angie Curren, on the Christmas Bazaar to be held November 17 at the high school. Fifteen Christmas trees, decorated by 15 groups, will be auctioned. She said they will need judges for the trees and asked for a judge from the unit.

Committee reports included Buckeye Girls State. The number of girls who will be attending the 2019 session must be sent to Department by January.

Robinson said she will order more 2-foot x 5-foot flags.

Under Poppies, Linda Gordon will send the order in December for 2019.

Non-perishables and especially paper goods will be collected at the November meeting for the Food Pantry. Gifts brought for Christmas gifts for Woodside Village residents can also be brought that evening.

It was suggested a white elephant exchange be held for the December meeting.

There will be an auction held at the Legion Hall on December 5. Unit members have been asked to work in the kitchen.

Jim Morris, from Post 97, will be invited to attend the December unit meeting to discuss needed repairs for the Legion Hall.

A thank-you note was read from Audrey Leonard for the birthday party held in her honor in September.
