MOUNT GILEAD — Ben Colegrove told members of the Drug & Alcohol Awareness & Prevention of Morrow County coalition about a program available through his church.

Celebrate Recovery is an outreach of Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, where his father Edward serves as pastor.

“I’m in recovery myself, three years, 10 months, 12 days,” Ben told DAAP members on Thursday at their quarterly meeting.

“We use some of the same 12 steps, plus eight from what Jesus said in the Bible. This is a very established program, developed by Pastor Rick Warren at his church in California.”

Celebrate Recovery can help with alcohol and drug addiction, plus dealing with grief, divorce, guilt, anger and other addictions including sexual and gambling. It has reached 35,000 churches worldwide.

The group meets every Thursday, with dinner at 6 p.m., large groups at 7 p.m. and small groups at 8 p.m. Child care is provided.

“We want to be another resource. We just want to help. We have each other and need to work together,” Colegrove said.

More people are coming each week, with an average of 30-40 attendees.

”We’ve seen new faces every week for the past eight weeks.”

Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to say, “I need help,” according to the program’s literature. You can contact them at [email protected].
