Canaan United Methodist Church Fall Bazaar and Bake Sale, 9 a.m.-3 p.m; 2006 CR 59, Edison. Lunch and homemade baked goods. Lunch will include homemade veggie soup (also offering it in quart/pint jars to go), shredded chicken, hot dogs, sides, apple dumplings and ice cream. Featuring vintage jewelry, crocheted items, fingerless gloves, bun beanie hats, Tupperware, dozens of once used jigsaw puzzles, nurse scrubs, afghans. Annual Halloweenie event at the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office; 5 -7 p.m. Tour the jail, meet the deputies, costume contest, treats.

Headwaters Outdoor Education Center , 6:30-8:30 p.m.; roasted hot dogs, camp fire, star gazing and bat watching. Free family event. Learn about the various constellations while searching the sky for bats.

Oct. 14

Edison Bible Church invites the community to join them for Church in the Park at 10:30 a.m., Mount Gilead State Park, 4119 State Route 95, in shelter house #1. Scripture reading, prayer, singing, and a message on redemption from God’s Word; presented by Pastor Aaron Jaffee.

Oct. 15

The Tomorrow Center Board of Directors meeting 4:30 p.m., in the Cardington-Lincoln Intermediate building on County Road 168.

Oct. 15-20

Annual Mount Gilead Public Library Book Sale. Large selection of used books including many non-fiction items like cookbooks and large print. Book sale items are by donation during library hours.

Oct. 17

Community Dinner at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5 to 6:45 p.m. in Trinity Hall. Roast beef and mashed potatoes with vegetable, choice of salad, rolls, dessert and drink. Dinners are $8 per person, no charge for children 10 and under. Dinners are the third Wednesday of each month: September through June.

Oct. 20

Girls Scouts Fall Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Camp Crooked Lane, 6998 CR 40, Mount Gilead. Admission is $5 per person; $7 at the door; those 2 and under free. Hot dog roast lunch, hay rides, games. For information email Emily Thrasher at [email protected].

Drug Take Back. Turn in your unused or expired medication, Kroger parking lot, 555 W. Marion St., Mount Gilead; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Medication samples, prescription drugs of any kind, pet meds and vitamins. Remove all labels before arrival.

Nov. 4

The second annual Headwaters Outdoor Education Center Holiday Make-It Take-It, 2-4 p.m. The family crafts will be made with natural (pine cones, wood items, dried pods), recycled items (jars, hurricane lamps, tins) and much more. There will be ‘kid-friendly’ crafts as well as those for parents. Some materials may be limited, so they will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis. All materials and items made are free. Donations will be accepted to fund projects such as Wee Discover, Wild Days, future Make-It Take-Its and the HOEC Outreach to schools and organizations in Morrow and surrounding counties.

Nov. 10

Sacred Hearts Holiday Craft Show, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Handlebar Ranch Sportsman Club, 6695 County Road 76, Mount Gilead. This is a home crafters show and proceeds are used to reduce church construction deft, support parish activities and Morrow County families in need.
