CONGRESS TOWNSHIP — A suspect in a burglary is in custody after local law enforcement agencies responded to a call last week.

The suspect was identified as Kyle Mark, 32 of Marion. Mark was charged with burglary and is being held in the Morrow County Correctional Facility on a $2,500 bond.

On Aug. 23, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a burglary in progress on County Road 77 in Congress Township.

Sheriff John Hinton said the homeowners arrived at their residence and found a vehicle parked in their driveway. After exiting their vehicle they realized that their residence had been broken into. They immediately called the Sheriff’s Office and deputies were on the scene within minutes.

Deputies searched the residence and did not locate anyone inside the residence but did find the back door of the residence open. They believed the suspect had ran out the back door.

The Mount Gilead Police Canine Unit was on duty in the village and was called to the scene to conduct a search for the suspect. After a short search by the canine unit the suspect was found lying in the tall weeds.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, Hinton said.
