Jenifer Burnaugh walked away with the “whole enchilada” at the Morrow County Community Center Chili Cook off Saturday. Burnaugh, a Mount Gilead attorney and candidate for Morrow County Municipal Court Judge, won the trophy for “Most Unique Chili” with her Buffalo Chili Recipe. She also was chosen Best of Show by the people’s choice vote.

Zachary Wallace of Marengo won Most Unique in the Youth Category. Kim Bood won second place in Most Unique and Allen Stojkovic won third place in that group. Belisa Sherman of Grill and Chill Restaurant in Mount Gilead won the first place trophy for Best Traditional, Scott Wallace came in second and Kayla Stoup of HER Realty won third. Whetstone Industries won in the Spiciest category with cooks Jason Pryor, Brian Hadburg and Glenn LaVan.

Community Center Cook off Chairmen Lisa Saunders and Rosemary Levings were pleased with the turnout for the cook off on the cold March Saturday. Proceeds from the event will go to support youth, first responders and military memberships. Part of the proceeds also went to the Mount Gilead Show Choir and the Martha Douce Dancers who performed at the Cook off.

There was a full hour and a half of entertainment provided by the Show Choir, Martha Douce Dance Company and a Tai Chi demonstration with Marlene and Steve Renick from the Community Center. DJs Roger and Nancy Wren wrapped up the afternoon teaching the Electric Slide with many visitors joining in the line dancing.

The Community Center Board thanked the Sponsors that included Morrow County Hospital, Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Morrow Family Health Center, Andy Bower of Edward Jones Investments, Grill and Chill, Kim Janick Financial of American National and First Knox National Bank. Rob and Sharon Hickson were sponsors for the MG Show Choir and Wendy’s provided cups, napkins and utensils for the Cook off.

Volunteers who helped with publicity and the set up were Jeanine Girard, Alex Coder and Darrell Levings. The chairmen also thanked Seniors on Center for donating the use of their facility for the event.
