During the past weeks, members of the Cardington FFA have competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking competition. For this contest, each member chooses a random topic from a hat and they have 30 minutes to prepare a 5-7 minute informative speech about that topic.

At the conclusion of the 30 minutes, they present their speech to the judges and must answer questions about their topic. At the county level our members competed to see who would represent the Cardington FFA in later competitions Marissa Hall won top place at the county level and moved on. At the sub district level, she placed fourth.

We are proud of how she did and hope to see more people participate in the Public Speaking contest next year.

February is the month of love and to help spread it, the Cardington FFA held their annual carnation sale.

For three weeks prior to Valentine’s Day, members of the FFA sold carnations to students in all grades K-12. When purchasing the carnations, students chose who they wanted them sent to and could also write a special message on a card attached to the flower.

They had a choice of purchasing a single carnation or a Bouquet 6 and could choose from three colors: light pink (for friendship); hot pink (for flirtation) or red (for love). The carnations were delivered on Valentine’sDay.

The sale was a huge success and the entire school, including the elementary, enjoyed being able to show their love with these beautiful flowers.
