The Gleaner Life Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation awarded 101 scholarships this year including several awards to local students:

Hope Hack, a resident of West Point, received a $3,000 Frank and Shirley Dick Scholarship Award. A 2016 graduate of Mount Gilead High School, Hack is attending United States Military Academy majoring in foreign language/intelligence.

Anne McElwee, a resident of Cardington, received a $3,000 Charles & Margaret Banner Memorial Scholarship Award. McElwee is attending Ohio Northern University majoring in chemistry.

Gleaner scholarships are one of the many benefits available to Gleaner members and their immediate families. This year, the foundation awarded $225,000 in scholarships. Since 1980, the Foundation has awarded over $2.6 million in educational funding.

Applications for the 2016-2017 scholarships will be available beginning Nov. 1 at www.gleanerlife.org/scholarships.
