Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating crash that resulted in a serious injury, which occurred on July 23at approximately 10:10 p.m. on White Oaks Road near the intersection of State Route 4 in Marion County.

The crash involved a maroon 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Timothy W. Steck, 52, of Delaware. Steck had one passenger, Karla Rush, 51, of Marion.

The Harley was traveling south on White Oaks Road when Steck failed to negotiate a curve, driving off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a guy wire attached to a utility pole, causing the ejection of both occupants.

Steck was transported from the scene to Marion General Hospital by Marion City Fire and EMS and was later transported to Grant Medical Center by Medcare EMS.

Rush was transported from the scene to Marion General Hospital by Marion Twp. EMS and was later flown to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight.

Helmets were not in use and alcohol is suspected.

Assisting at the scene were: Marion Township Fire & EMS, Marion City Fire and EMS, Pleasant Twp. Fire, and Ed’s Towing. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
