The second week of July will be busy at Headwaters Outdoor Education Center.

The organization’s first ever open house will be held on July 10 from 2-4 p.m. with inside and outside activities for all ages.

During the event there will be displays, hikes, information, door prizes and refreshments.

Carrie Jagger will have a station on pollinators; Kay Evans will be making homemade vinegar.

Invasive plants will be identified and foot golf will be introduced.

Wild Days will be held July 13 and 14 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Youth ages 3-13 will participate in nature related activities and make a project to take home.

Headwaters will have a display at the Sweet Corn Festival in Mount Gilead on July 16.

Future events will be an Alternative Energy program the evening of Aug. 24, participation at the Morrow County Fair and Wee Discover Preschool on Thursdays in September and October. Check out the Facebook page or call the SWCD office 419 946 7923 for more information.

HOEC is a Morrow County asset administered by the SWCD office and a volunteer board. Hiking, birdwatching and dog walking are available every day. It is located off US 42 on Home Road (County Road 76) just north of the Morrow County Jail and the ODOT facility.
