Several Highland athletes were honored by the MOAC when that conference announced its all-league team in winter sports.

Formerly known as the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, Permco has been named the title sponsor of the SpeedTour weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course highlighted by the traditional classes of racing from the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association. The event, set for June 23-25, is now named Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio and remains the longest continuously-running spectator event at the legendary road course in Morrow County.

On March 21 at the Highland High School Cafetorium in front of an audience of 35 family members, coaches, and friends, Cody and Dylan Thomas committed to continuing their academic and soccer careers at Heidelberg University. The Thomas twins, seniors at Highland High School, are the sons of Greg and Marci Thomas of Howard.

A second strong pitching performance in as many days led Northmor’s baseball team to a 5-0 win at Mount Gilead Tuesday evening.

A late Northmor rally fell short in softball, as two seventh-inning runs couldn’t push them past host Danville in a 3-2 loss.

Northmor pitcher Grant Bentley tossed a no-hitter to lead his team over Mount Gilead by a 2-0 count on Monday.

Both Northmor track teams finished second on Saturday in the 11-team Dave Schorr Invitational hosted by Ridgedale High School.

The pinnacle event of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course’s 62nd season of racing, The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, returns June 30-July 2. The 2023 Accord Hybrid will serve as the presenting sponsor of this year’s event.
