Deer gun hunting season underway this week
Ohio’s popular white-tailed deer gun hunting season begins this week, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. The weeklong gun season, open to all hunters, kicks off Monday, Nov. 27 and runs until Sunday, Dec. 3. The deer gun weekend is Dec. 16-17.

Cardington Crossfire claims trophy
The Cardington Crossfire 8U girls’ softball team had a successful fall season this year. They claimed the championship in the River Valley Fall Ball league tournament. The team completed their season undefeated adn also won every game in the single elimination tournament to come home with the trophy. OHSAA expanding Respect the Game program
The Ohio High School Athletic Association launched the Respect the Game program in 2004, and the phrase and logo have become synonymous with interscholastic athletics in Ohio from public address announcers, publications, social media and public service announcements. This fall, the OHSAA has been working on new resources and collecting ideas from member schools to announce an expanded Respect the Game program as the 2023-24 winter sports season is about to get underway.

A dominating defensive performance by Sugarcreek Garaway put an end to Northmor’s very successful football season on Friday at Heath High School.
Deer archery numbers are good
Ohio’s archery hunters have taken 51,360 white-tailed deer through Sunday, Nov. 5, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. The average bow harvest through the first weekend of November over the past three years is 50,939 deer. Through the first seven weekends of 2022, hunters checked 48,577 deer.
Harrison Jr.’s Heisman campaign heating up
COLUMBUS — The superlatives to describe Marvin Harrison Jr. are running thin as the spectacular junior receiver continues to run roughshod over nearly every defense he lines up against. On Saturday, Harrison posted his seventh 100-yard receiving game of the season while becoming the first player in Ohio State history to record consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
