Northmor pitcher Grant Bentley tossed a no-hitter to lead his team over Mount Gilead by a 2-0 count on Monday.

Bentley walked one in the contest, while also striking out five. The Northmor offense mustered five singles, with Cooper Thomas tallying two of them.

Mount Gilead pitched Cole Fricke and Gage Baker in the contest, with Fricker suffering the hard-luck loss. The two combined to strike out six and walk one.

On Thursday, Northmor cruised past visiting Centerburg in picking up a 9-0 win.

The Golden Knights picked up 10 singles in earning the win. Drew Hammond had three of those hits, as did Thomas. Trevor Brubaker pitched six innings to earn the win. He and Bryce Cooper combined to strike out 13, walk two and give up four hits.

Northmor then swept Loudonville in a Saturday doubleheader to cap a perfect week.

In the first game, they took a 9-5 win despite being outhit 12-8. Bentley picked up two doubles and a single in the game, while Garrett Harvey contributed a double and single. Bentley also earned the win. He and Cooper finished with five strikeouts, three walks and 12 hits surrendered.

The second game went Northmor’s way by a 12-0 count. Cooper, Thomas and Cole Cuffman combined to pitch a two-hitter. The trio struck out eight and walked two. Hammond got a double and two singles on offense. Harvey picked up four singles and Bentley added three.

Cardington Pirates

The Cardington baseball team rallied for a 9-6 win over Pleasant on Monday.

Trailing 2-1 after the fourth inning, the Pirates picked up five runs in the top of the fifth. Then, with the score 6-6 going into the seventh inning, they put up three more to finish on top.

Denton Garrison had a double and two singles, while A.J. Hall picked up two singles and Drew Etgen added a double. On the mound, Dillon Minturn earned the win in relief. He, Merek McClure and Wyatt Wade combined to strike out seven, walk six and give up seven hits.

On Tuesday, the Pirates were edged by host Fredericktown by a 7-6 count after a two-run fifth inning by the Freddies broke a 5-5 tie.

Garrison had a double in the game for Cardington, while Kaiden Beach finished with a pair of singles. Wade suffered the loss, with he and Cadin Dewitt combining to strike out five, walk six and give up seven hits.

Cardington was topped by visiting Liberty Union in a Friday baseball game by a 7-1 margin.

The Pirates were held to a pair of singles on offense, while Hall, Dewitt and MInturn combined to strike out eight, walk two and give up six hits. Hall was the pitcher of record.

Cardington couldn’t get on the board at Buckeye Valley on Saturday in falling by a 10-0 count. Minturn picked up a double in the contest for his team’s only hit. He also absorbed the loss. He, McClure and Wyatt Denney combined to strike out five and walk two, but gave up 17 hits.

Highland Scots

Highland broke a 2-2 tie with sixth runs in the home half of the fifth inning and wound up topping Pleasant by an 8-4 margin on Monday.

Kort Sears earned the win. He and Jace Brooks combined to strike out 10, walk one and give up four hits. Offensively, the team got eight singles, with Jayden Collins and Zachary Schmidt both getting two.

The Scots won 13-1 at Pleasant on Thursday to sweep the season series against the Spartans.

Hayden Kline had a triple and single for Highland, while Brock Church had a double. Collins picked up a pair of singles. Zach Church earned the win. He, Kline and Evan Johnson combined to strike out and walk four, while also giving up four total hits.

Highland suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, falling 6-4 at Dublin Coffman. Brock Church had a double and single, while Collins added a double. Kline and Zach Church both had two singles.

Drew Altizer was the pitcher of record. He and Zachary Schmidt combined to strike out four, walk four and give up six hits.

The team would rebound on Saturday in topping Big Walnut by a 6-0 margin.

Kline and Collins both had two hits for Highland in the win. Sears earned the decision on the mound. He, Zach Church and Brooks totaled five strikeouts and two walks while combining on a two-htter.

Mount Gilead Indians

Mount Gilead fell to Lucas in baseball by an 11-0 count on Friday.

The visiting Indians were held to three hits, including a double by Graham Sherbourne. Mason Barnum was the pitcher of record. He, Hayden Somerlot and and Sherbourne combined to strike out three, walk four and give up nine hits.
