Dale A. Bowersmith Sr., age 82, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2020, following a brief illness.
Dale was born on October 21, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Helen (Sherman) Bowersmith. Dale graduated from Marengo High School in 1957, where he enjoyed and excelled in playing basketball.
On September 5, 1958, he married the love of his life Helen Styer and enjoyed more than 62 years together. Dale loved his children and grandchildren who will cherish his memory forever.
Dale worked several years at the Marion Power Shovel and was a dairy farmer. After he retired, he worked as a caretaker at the Morrow County Fairgrounds.
Dale was a faithful member of the Chester Baptist Church.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Helen Styer Bowersmith; his children, Robin (Bill) Laroche, Dale (Toni) Bowersmith, Ronda (Randy) Grimm, and David (Diane) Bowersmith; grandchildren, Christy, Bret and Ryan Laroche, David and Danielle Bowersmith, Bobby and Curtis Grimm, Tiffany and Art Bowersmith and all of their spouses; 17 great grandchildren, brothers, Ernest Bowersmith, Danny (Laura) Young and Jack Young; and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Dale’s family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate his life will begin there at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Wythe officiating. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, please maintain a social distance from others and wear your mask.
