Gilead Christian bowling coach Tracy Zeigler returns three boys’ letter winners and six on the girls’ side this year.

The boys’ team advanced to districts last year for the first time in school history. Returning are seniors Sammy Stiffler and Brad Mohre and sophomore Seth Butterfield. Stiffler averaged 175 last year and is a three-time district qualifier, making as an individual twice.

For the girls, senior Breanna Fleak became the first Eagle girl to make it to districts as an individual last year. Also back are seniors Nadia Grubb and Lauren Millinger and sophomores Tabitha Griffin, Lindsay Millinger and Emily Rich.

The boys’ team was hurt some by departures. Nick Kerman graduated after averaging 155 for the team last year and sophomore Jimmy Bailey will be out for the year with a shoulder injury.

Newcomers for the boys’ team are Lucas Standley, Daniel Ross and Garrett Jones; while Jillian Lastoria will be a first-year player on the girls’ team.

“Our goals are to always put Christ first and be positive, kind and courteous,” said Zeigler. “We want to keep the ball out of the gutter, keep focused on the game and enjoy our season.”
